Printing on packaging
Ask your printer for a vector file (SVG, PDF or EPS) and keep a quiet margin of at least four modules around the code. Curved surfaces like bottles and cans bend the pattern: keep the code small relative to the curve and test on a printed sample, not only on screen.
Keep strong contrast. Dark ink on a light label scans reliably; light ink on a dark box, metallic foil and glossy film are risky.
Editable codes outlive the print run
If the product page moves or the manual is updated, an editable code follows. A static code on 10,000 boxes cannot be fixed. This is the single most important choice for anything printed in volume.
See where products are scanned
Scan stats show the approximate city and the device of each scan, so a code on packaging tells you where your product actually travels. Add UTM tags to the link to see the same traffic in your web analytics.
On Pro, destination rules can send scans to a page in the shopper’s language or country.
