An SMS QR code opens the phone’s messaging app with your number and a message already filled in. The person only taps Send. It works on any phone with a camera that reads QR codes, even without data, because the message goes over the normal phone network.
Keyword texts are the classic use: "JOIN" to sign up for alerts, "VOTE 3" in a contest, "STOP" to opt out. Make sure your number can receive texts. Many business landlines cannot.
