About UPC-E
UPC-E holds the same number as a UPC-A, written in 8 digits by dropping a run of zeros. Scanners expand it back to the full 12 digits.
Only UPC-A numbers with enough zeros in the right places compress. Paste your UPC-A: if it fits we draw the UPC-E, if not we say so.
